CTU: Attack on Geonosis is the second photonovel of the CTU series. It was originally released on March 10, 2006. The re-released version was released in 17 July 2009.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
A spy on Geonosis[edit | edit source]
Jack Phoenix, the former director of CTU, is seen spying some Geonosians on a Geonosian Droid Factory. While he's watching the Geonosians closely, he doesn't notice the moving platform below his feet and thus he falls down, alerting the Geonosians of his presence. He manages to shoot the other guard and then he proceeds to punch the other guard, but yet again fails to notice the Geonosians lurking right behind his back. One Geonosian guard manages to restrain Jack's movement enough that another guard is able to knock him off. After this, the guards take Jack to an interrogation room.
Meeting[edit | edit source]
Jack is tortured by the Geonosians for a while until Count Dooku enters the room. He offers Jack his freedom, but only if he joins the Separatists. Jack refuses the offer and the Count leaves the room, leaving the torture machine running. A man called Burt Reynolds enters the room right after Dooku has left and frees Jack from the torture machine. Despite the fact that Jack is barely able to walk, the two find their way to a nearby hangar. Burt contacts CTU through his comlink, but he's unsure if the message ever received its destionation. They then proceed to leave the Droid Factory by stealing a speeder. However, not before long, they crash into an old, rusty vechile left in the middle of the desert. While they curse their bad luck, the Geonosians manage to catch up with them and demand them to come back to the Droid Factory.
A mole in CTU[edit | edit source]
Meanwhile in CTU, Celnah Qualus checks his new holomessages and notices the one from Burt Reynolds. As soon as the message starts playing, Celnah gets his blaster out and shoots at his own workstation to make sure the message isn't seen. Then Celnah reports the incident as an "odd malfunction" to Joseph Auda, the Head of Communications of CTU Coruscant. Joseph investigates around a bit and concludes that the workstation is completely unusable right now.
Call for help[edit | edit source]
Then the two go to the Director, Dakar Dolan, to ask for help. Dakar hands over a small laptop to Celnah and they both go back to do their work. Auda's protocol droid S-3PO notes to Auda that a holomessage was sent to Celnah's workstation merely moments before it blew up.
Dakar Dolan recieves the same holomessage that Celnah did earlier and he quickly assembles a resque squadron, consisting of only three men: himself, Joseph and Celnah. While the three are about to leave, they are interrupted by Harrison Ford, the Vice Director of Division Command. Harrison demans that Dakar takes him and his friends, a Rodian named Rego and Jake, the selfish Director of Internal Security with him to the resque mission. Dakar realizes that he cannot say no to the Vice Director of Division Command and thus agrees.
Action![edit | edit source]
When the resque squadron finally reaches Geonosis and finds their way into the mysterious factory, they find a beaten-up Jack Phoenix and Burt Reynolds. As soon as they notice the agents, Count Dooku appears from the shadows. The team orders Dooku to surrender, but Dooku orders his mole to reveal himself. Celnah takes a few steps and goes to stand beside the Count, pointing his former teammates with a blaster. Dakar Dolan becomes furious about this and attacks the mole, only to get killed by his blaster pistol. Dooku and Celnah then quickly proceed to leave and when they arrive at another hangar, Dooku gives Celnah his reward: it's death.
Meanwhile, Joseph Auda has confirmed the Director's death together with Rego. Jake is seeing how Jack's feeling and then he suddenly grabs his blaster pistol and points it to Jack's forehead. An enraged Harrison Ford pulls out his blaster, aiming it at Jake's back and not hesitating to shoot. However, instead of shooting Jake, Harrison tackles him down and starts a fight. In the midst of the fight, Harrison punches Jake into the face and almost kills the Director of Internal Security until Jack cuts the fight off, noting that there's a full-scale battle only a few steps away. They leave the beaten-up Jake behind and enter the Battle of Geonosis with every agent being armed — with a blaster pistol if not anything else.
The aftermath[edit | edit source]
Some time after the Battle of Geonosis, a woman named Mary-Kate (later identified as the acting Director of CTU) is discussing about current issues with Admiral Jerjerrod and another agent as Jack Phoenix and Burt Reynolds carry in a covered corpse. Harrison Ford is trying to make sure that they don't bump into anything and drop the corpse. However, Mary-Kate becomes curious about the mysterious corpse and goes up to Harrison, demanding to see it. After a bit of hesitation, Harrison lets her see the corpse. She is shocked to learn that it's the corpse of her good friend, former Director of CTU, Dakar Dolan. She runs away crying and Harrison tries to calm her down after catching up with her.
